# West Ham: Evening Standard share promising Kostic update

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) supporters have been handed a fairly promising transfer update involving left-wing-back target Filip Kostic as the club chase a deal.**

### The Lowdown: Irons in talks…

The Irons are in talks for numerous targets after completing four major summer signings already for manager David Moyes.

West Ham are thought to[attempting moves](https://www.londonworld.com/sport/football/west-ham/west-ham-still-working-on-moves-for-two-players-as-they-prepare-for-manchester-city-clash-3789545) for both Lille midfielder Amadou Onana and Kostic of Eintracht Frankfurt, while the likes of Burnley winger Maxwell Cornet have also [been heavily linked.](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11075047/West-Ham-reignite-Burnley-winger-Cornet-growing-frustrated-Kostic-chase.html)

It appears the east Londoners mean business ahead of their [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) opener against English champions Manchester City this weekend and look determined to right the wrongs of last season.

### The Latest: West Ham ‘willing’ to meet Kostic price…

Now, a promising report has surfaced with an update on West Ham’s chances of landing Kostic.

According to [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-masuaku-loan-kostic-b1016102.html), GSB and co are ‘willing to meet’ Frankfurt’s asking price with negotiations being held over the 29-year-old’s signing.

Going further, while they claim ‘convincing’ Kostic is proving ‘more difficult’, it is also believed that he is ‘tempted by a move to London’ and West Ham haven’t given up.

### The Verdict: Perfect for Moyes?

Kostic, primarily a wing-back, is perfect for Moyes if the Scotsman wishes to change formation to a back five.

Called Frankfurt’s ‘irreplaceable’ star by the [official Bundesliga YouTube channel,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QnLYreiLMA) the Serbia international racked up a brilliant [15 assists in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-kostic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/161011) from out wide and was[absolutely pivotal](https://www.eurosport.com/football/europa-league/2021-2022/europa-league-final-filip-kostic-key-but-frankfurt-fans-also-crucial-for-biggest-game-in-decades-aga_sto8927473/story.shtml) to their Europa League triumph.

Kostic’s contract situation, due to [expire in 2023,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/filip-kostic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/161011) could also motivate his club to accept a lower valuation and we believe West Ham should certainly keep pushing.
