Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna remain unavailable for first team selection whilst Craig Dawson could leave after 2022/2023 with just one year left on his deal ([ExWHUemployee](https://www.patreon.com/posts/transfer-update-70152500)).

There are also some [concerns](https://www.patreon.com/posts/transfer-update-70152500) at the[Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) club surrounding Kurt Zouma’s injury history and former Hammers defender Issa Diop has just joined Fulham, prompting Moyes and co to look at transfer market options.

### The Latest: Zagadou ‘negotiations’ held…

Indeed, it is believed that West Ham ‘negotiations’ have been held with the 23 -year-old as the east Londoners scour the market for available options – including Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer.

### The Verdict: Good option?

The clear downside of a potential move for Zagadou comes in the form of a [very questionable injury history](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dan-axel-zagadou/verletzungen/spieler/344598) but, if the player can put those fitness doubts behind him, he could be a good option for West Ham.

Former Dortmund boss Marco Rose, speaking mid-way through last season, hailed the 6 foot 5 defender as ‘excellent’ and a ‘very important’ player for the team – even hoping the would sign an extension with the club (via [Fansided).](https://bvbbuzz.com/2021/12/17/marco-rose-dan-axel-zagadou-borussia-dortmund/)

Meanwhile, their midfielder Julian Brandt has also praised Zagadou as an ‘[incredible player’.](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/julian-brandt-borussia-dortmund-want-to-win-revierderby-for-the-fans-schalke-11070)
