Peterborough United Director of Football Barry Fry has hailed West Ham United’s record in the transfer market in recent seasons in an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern.
The Hammers are well and truly in the race to qualify for the Champions League this season.
David Moyes’ side are fifth, just three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, and with a favourable run-in before the end of the season.
How many strikers should West Ham sign this summer?
The Irons play Burnley, Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton in the run-in, while Chelsea face Fulham, Manchester City, Arsenal, Leicester City and Aston Villa.
Central to their form have been the performances of Jesse Lingard, who came in on loan on January and has scored nine goals and laid on four assists in 11 games, along with the displays of both Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.
Both Soucek and Coufal were signed permanently in the summer, although the midfielder initially came in on loan the season prior.
And Fry thinks that they have got their signings spot on.
He told TT: “They’ve done brilliant recruitment. I know they’ve always been criticised by the fans for some of their recruitment but I think they’ve done brilliant recruitment.”
