In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, Rob Lee, who enjoyed one season with West Ham, believes one of their top summer targets, Ivan Toney, will easily cost any club at least £25 million, claiming that is what Brentford charge for their players now.
Toney has been linked with a whole host of clubs in the Premier League, including West Ham, who could move for the striker if Brentford don’t win promotion from the Championship this season.
Should West Ham sign Ivan Toney?
The 24-year old has had to work his way back up through the leagues after failing to make the grade at Newcastle United, however he admits there are no bad feelings or grudges with Rafa Benitez who said he wasn’t good enough and eventually sold the striker to Peterborough.
Speaking on how much Toney will cost if West Ham were wanting to sign him this summer and if that would be a lot of money for one player, Lee told The Transfer Tavern:
“Yeah you will need a lot of money because I never know what you’re talking about these days with prices for players, but you’ll be talking a lot of money.
“Ivan Toney would probably cost £25 million because that’s what they sell their players for these days Brentford, like £25-30 million.”
Toney has 29 goals so far this season his fine form with his goals helping push Brentford into the playoffs as well as reaching their first-ever cup semi-final before being knocked out by Tottenham Hotspur.
