West Ham United have made an offer to Roma boss Jose Mourinho and have been handed a response, according to journalist Francesca Ferrazza.

The Lowdown: Irons linked...

The east Londoners have been linked with the hiring of a new boss as pressure grows on current manager David Moyes.

The Scotsman has guided West Ham to just six Premier League wins all season and a mammoth 14 defeats from 25 league games, coming after spending a total of £162 million in the summer transfer window.

Mourinho, as per recent reports, has been linked with the managerial post if West Ham were to sack Moyes - with reporter Ferrazza sharing a further update.

The Latest: West Ham given Mourinho response...

According to the Italian journalist, via Giallorossi.net, an offer has in fact gone in from the east Londoners for Mourinho - but they'll be disappointed by the response.

Ferrazza stated:

“It’s true he still hasn’t received offers from important teams that have made him waver: West Ham, Newcastle, the Portuguese national team have arrived… All jobs that don’t attract him more than Roma. The offer from West Ham has certainly reached him, and who knows if he will not want to talk about it in the press conference today…”

The Verdict: Bad news for West Ham...

Mourinho is perhaps one of the most decorated coaches in football history, having won a grand total of 32 major honours since 1996 (Transfermarkt).

Called the 'perfect manager' by England international and Roma striker Tammy Abraham, there is little doubting the special one would've come to the London Stadium with much pedigree.

Alas, it was always a very long shot to convince a big name like Mourinho to join the relegation-threatened West Ham.

The only club Mourinho has failed to win a trophy at Tottenham with it being little surprise the 60-year-old doesn't want to add another club to that short list.
