West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, according to Italian outlet TuttoJuve.

The lowdown: Career so far

Melo has enjoyed a glittering playing career to date since making the switch from boyhood club Gremio to Barcelona in 2018.

The 26-year-old Brazil international represented the Spanish giants on 71 occasions before Juventus splashed out €72m (£60m) to acquire the services of the decorated Copa America, La Liga and Italian Cup winner.

Following links earlier in the summer with a move to Arsenal, now it appears as though West Ham could be set to battle it out with another Premier League rival for Arthur...

The latest: Hammers interested

As per TuttoJuve, the Hammers and Newcastle United are both believed to be keen on the 22-cap ace.

It's claimed that Valencia were in the running, however, they are struggling to meet the financial demands required to make a deal happen.

The report states that 'new tracks' are appearing for Arthur, with West Ham among those 'interested' in signing the man described as 'very good' by Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi.

The verdict: Make it happen

Few links to midfielders are enough to whet the appetite of the London Stadium faithful as much as this one does, given the calibre of the Brazilian.

As David Moyes seemingly pursues further midfield additions with Atalanta gem Teun Koopmeiners reportedly on the radar in east London, signing Arthur would be a sensational piece of business from GSB, even at the mooted €47m (£39m) asking price.

Last season, the creative Samba star earned a 6.83 Sofascore rating whilst winning 3.5 duels and completing 90 per cent of all attempted passes on average per league outing - showcasing impressive battling qualities to accompany his prominent on-the-ball skillset.

Capable of operating in a more advanced role and as a defensive-minded midfielder, Arthur would be the ideal candidate to strengthen the options at Moyes' disposal and as such, West Ham should be pushing to sign the £125,000-per-week ace.
