West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen has attracted praise from Sky Sports pundit Kevin Campbell despite the Hammers' stop-start beginning to this campaign.

The Lowdown: Bowen shines...

The Englishman has enjoyed a fantastic last 12 months under manager David Moyes, finishing 2021/2022 as West Ham's arguable player of the season alongside stars like Declan Rice.

His form over last season prompted Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate to hand him an international nod and he could well be in contention for a place in the 2022 World Cup squad at Qatar.

Bowen even turned heads at Liverpool with the Premier League title contenders having been linked with a swoop for the 25-year-old at various points over this year.

The Latest: Campbell praises 'incredible' West Ham star...

Speaking to Football Insider, former Arsenal striker Campbell has suggested that the 'incredible' Bowen is also a tireless worker and will re-discover his goalscoring form on a more consistent basis soon.

He explained:

"This is around the time that you would expect form to pick up for a player like Bowen – between the six to ten game mark.

“That’s when teams and players like Bowen start to find the right levels.

“One thing he does do well is work ever so hard – so he’ll always have a place in that West Ham line up.

“His goals pushed him for England, and rightly so – because he was incredible."

The Verdict: Exciting player...

The winger was West Ham's best-performing player by average match rating last season, scoring 12 goals and assisting ten others in the process (WhoScored).

If Bowen can replicate those numbers this season, alongside Moyes' new signings, it's safe to say West Ham supporters could hold some high hopes for the campaign.

Paul Merson still believes he is 'underrated' despite his form last year, and taking this into account, Bowen's potential improvement could well be one to keep an eye on.
