Anton Ferdinand has admitted on Sky Sports that he would like to see Mauricio Pochettino at West Ham United if David Moyes was sacked.

The Lowdown: Moyes is still fighting on

West Ham maintained their 100% record in the Europa Conference League last night when they cruised to a 2-0 away victory against Cypriot outfit AEK Larnaca, which puts them in a great position to progress into the quarter-finals.

However, the Hammers will now be brought straight back down to reality in the Premier League, as they sit outside of the bottom three by one point, and this weekend take on Aston Villa, who are just five places above them.

Despite West Ham's latest poor run of form in the league - they've won just twice in 2023 - David Moyes still has the full backing of the Hammers board, which may have surprised a few people.

The Latest: Pochettino could be a contender

While he's being heavily linked with rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Ferdinand would like to see the Argentinian end up at the London Stadium because of the work he did in north London in the event Moyes is sacked.

He said: "As a West Ham fan, if Moyes was to be relieved of his duties, that's someone that I'd want West Ham to go for, is Pochettino.

"You've seen his football was fantastic at Tottenham. He got the best out of the players that he had there; the energy and the way that he had the team playing was fantastic."

The Verdict: West Ham not looking to make a change

While the idea of having Pochettino would be an exciting one for West Ham fans, the fact that he is being linked with jobs at clubs such as Spurs and Real Madrid shows why he probably wouldn't make the switch to the London Stadium, although with an impressive record of 132 Premier League wins, it's clear why fans could be keen to see him in their dugout.

Also, the fact that Moyes has the full backing of the West Ham board despite sitting in the bottom three shows how unwilling they are to make a managerial change, perhaps because of how it backfired the last time they got rid of the Scottish boss.

The fact that Moyes is doing so well with West Ham in Europe is also probably something that's buying him more time, because if he can just get the Hammers to finish above the bottom three and win the Conference League, then they'll book a spot in the Europa League next term which would be huge for the club.
