West Ham: Double Eredivisie transfer swoop eyed after scout’s recommendation

West Ham: Double Eredivisie transfer swoop eyed after scout’s recommendation -Premier League News

West Ham United now have their eyes on Eredivisie duo Edson Alvarez and Ibrahim Sangare, with the pair having caught the attention of the Hammers’ scouting setup.

THE LOWDOWN: ANOTHER RAID

Alvarez, who was one of the few stars to stick with Ajax throughout the summer raid of the Dutch giants, will likely set David Moyes and co back a hefty sum, with his club reportedly rejecting a £40m bid in the most recent window.

Meanwhile, long-term Premier League target Sangare will cost roughly the same, as reports in the Netherlands claimed PSV were looking for at least £34m to offload him, with Newcastle United thought to be interested in a deal.

With skipper Declan Rice’s long-term future at the club uncertain, the Irons are seemingly preparing for life without their homegrown talent and have circled two emphatic names as potential replacements in the aforementioned duo.

THE LATEST: SCOUT’S SUGGESTIONS

In an ideal world, West Ham will keep hold of their captain on a long-term basis. But with that scenario looking unlikely, their next best bet would be to use the money attained from his sale wisely on a couple of outstanding midfield options – which is exactly why the West Ham scouts have been hard at work in the Netherlands.

A report from 90min suggests that the Hammers are indeed interested in the duo and that both players are ‘keen to move to England if the right opportunity presents itself’, despite Sangare only recently signing a new deal.

THE VERDICT: ASTUTE REPLACEMENTS

West Ham’s £160m-plus summer splurge saw the club invest well, with these targets suggesting the club will continue to use their pull, which has come as a consequence of their back-to-back European campaigns as a result of consecutive top-seven finishes in the Premier League.

It is at this point that the club should be looking to build on what they already have, bearing in mind the brief relegation scare that the Hammers endured as a result of their poor start to the season, showing how quickly status can change in England’s top flight.

And amid the interest from several Premier League clubs, we feel Alvarez and Sangare would be two astute replacements for Rice and possess the ability to shine in both phases of the game.
