West Ham United are plotting a move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka next summer, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Reinforcements wanted

GSBK had an extremely busy transfer window and bolstered their defensive ranks with the additions of Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer, but this hasn’t stopped David Moyes from planning for the future.

The 23-year-old Ndicka's contract at the Deutsche Bank Park is set to expire at the end of the season, which appears to have alerted two clubs in particular, with the Irons name-checked to be keen on bringing him to the Premier League.

The Latest: West Ham eyeing Ndicka

According to French outlet Jeunes Footeux (via Sport Witness), West Ham, alongside Sevilla, are both ‘interested’ in striking a deal for Ndicka.

The report states that the Irons’ ‘objective would be to get a free transfer for next season’, though there’s a chance he could be available on a €15m (£13m) cut-price deal in January.

The Verdict: Dawson alternative

Craig Dawson is likely to be bidding farewell upon the conclusion of his deal at the end of the campaign so Moyes will need an alternative, and Ndicka, dubbed 'immense' by Sofascore, could be just the man for the job.

The Frenchman, hailed for having ‘great authority’ by former Frankfurt star Alexander Schur, currently averages 5.4 clearances and wins 2.6 of his aerial duels per Bundesliga game (WhoScored), showing how much of a rock he can be at the heart of a backline.

Whilst West Ham would rather get him on a free, it could be worth paying the asking price in the New Year if they are serious about landing his services, or risk missing out on him to Sevilla.
