West Ham summer signing Thierry Nevers has certainly made a bright start to life with the Hammers, as he netted a hat-trick against Southend United in a pre-season friendly for the Under-23s on Friday.

Nevers signed from Championship side Reading after turning down a new contract with the Berkshire-based side, and would have been hoping to make a positive start to life with West Ham.

He certainly did that, finding the back of the net on three occasions as a young Hammers side ran out comfortable 5-1 winners on the day.

West Ham United's Academy Manager Ricky Martin, previously revealed that he was excited to introduce Nevers to the squad, after some 'very impressive performances'.

“Thierry is someone that we’ve been following for the last couple of seasons. He’s put in some very impressive performances, and we’re really excited to introduce him to the U23s squad."

West Ham's senior side are set to get their new Premier League campaign underway against Newcastle United, in what could potentially be a tricky test at St James' Park.

David Moyes' side finished sixth in the top-flight standings last term, and will be looking to build on some strong performances from last year's campaign.

Nevers will be hoping that he can be involved in the first-team picture before too long, and with displays like Friday's against Southend United, he's certainly on the right pathway.

Many West Ham supporters took to social media to react to Nevers' recent display in the emphatic win over Southend in their pre-season friendly.
