Many West Ham United fans were raging after an update emerged about their incoming Head of Recruitment Rob Newman.

The Hammers enjoyed a fantastic 2020/21 season, finishing sixth in the Premier League and duly qualifying for the Europa League. However, despite now having to compete on four fronts, the Irons are yet to make a new summer signing as we approach the start of the new campaign.

With the arrival of Newman from Manchester City, West Ham will have been hoping to swiftly kick on with their transfer business. However, as per Claret & Hugh, Newman has been placed on gardening leave at the Etihad Stadium and will therefore not be able to join up with the east London club until the January transfer window.

The news was shared on Twitter by Claret & Hugh's Sean Whetstone via his account @westhamfootball, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters. These took to the social media platform to share their thoughts, with some taking aim at the club's much-maligned GSB ownership and one describing the situation as a "shambles".
