West Ham United are reportedly in talks regarding a transfer for Napoli winger Hirving Lozano this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWed.

The lowdown: Career so far

Signed from PSV Eindhoven for £40.5m in 2019 (Transfermarkt), the Mexican has a wealth of domestic experience under his belt across time spent in Italy, Netherlands and in his homeland.

The 26-year-old has directly contributed to 176 goals in 342 appearances all told, lifting the Coppa Italia, the Eredivisie title and two domestic trophies with boyhood club Pachuca in the process.

However, Lozano has fallen out of favour in Naples in recent months, and could now be a top target for the Hammers...

The latest: 'Concrete contacts'

As per TuttoMercatoWed, West Ham have initiated 'concrete contacts' with Napoli over the possibility of a move for the 56-cap star.

It's claimed that Lozano 'can leave' the Serie A club this summer and has undergone 'many chats' in recent weeks in an attempt to resolve his future.

The report added that Napoli will expect to receive offers in the region of €20m (£17m) for the man who was described as 'underrated' by European football expert Antonio Mango.

The verdict: Make it happen

Holding a market value of £27m and under contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt), signing Lozano for anything close to the mooted fee would represent extraordinary value for money for a high-calibre player.

Having previously been a completed 90 minutes twice in 30 Serie A outings, scoring five times and supplying six assists in the process.

The versatile forward, who is equally adept on either wing, earned a 6.97 Sofascore rating whilst winning 3.3 duels, taking 1.7 shots and successfully completing one dribble per game.

Sharing similar stylistic traits to such renowned attackers as West Ham's own Said Benrahma - as well as Bukayo Saka, Rodrygo and Sadio Mane (FBRef) - an opportunity to sign a player of Lozano's class cannot be ignored by the east Londoners, regardless of the options already at David Moyes' disposal.
