The lowdown: Career so far
Signed from PSV Eindhoven for £40.5m in 2019 (Transfermarkt), the Mexican has a wealth of domestic experience under his belt across time spent in Italy, Netherlands and in his homeland.
However, Lozano has fallen out of favour in Naples in recent months, and could now be a top target for the Hammers…
The latest: ‘Concrete contacts’
It’s claimed that Lozano ‘can leave’ the Serie A club this summer and has undergone ‘many chats’ in recent weeks in an attempt to resolve his future.
The report added that Napoli will expect to receive offers in the region of €20m (£17m) for the man who was described as ‘underrated’ by European football expert Antonio Mango.
The verdict: Make it happen
Holding a market value of £27m and under contract until 2024 (Transfermarkt), signing Lozano for anything close to the mooted fee would represent extraordinary value for money for a high-calibre player.
Sharing similar stylistic traits to such renowned attackers as West Ham’s own Said Benrahma – as well as Bukayo Saka, Rodrygo and Sadio Mane (FBRef) – an opportunity to sign a player of Lozano’s class cannot be ignored by the east Londoners, regardless of the options already at David Moyes’ disposal.
