The Lowdown: Reinforcements needed
The Irons find themselves one point above the relegation zone after losing 12 of their opening 20 games this season, with the need for reinforcements clear should they want to avoid the drop.
David Moyes’ side have welcomed their first two signings of the window in the form of Sao Paulo defender Luizao, who initially put pen to paper in December, followed by Aston Villa’s former striker Danny Ings.
The London Stadium boss previously admitted that the club will have to splash the cash to steer them away from danger, and it sounds like more work is underway behind the scenes.
The Latest: Irons in the fire
According to Whetstone for 6foot2 (via Hammers News), West Ham are in the process of working on deals for several secret signings, with the identity of targets currently being kept anonymous.
“West Ham have a number of active bids for both a striker and a centre back, 6foot2 understands.
“With Craig Dawson now gone to Wolves and Michail Antonio reportedly wanting a move, David Moyes is looking to cover for both positions.
“Although no specific targets have been mentioned for fear of tipping off rival clubs, 6foot2 have been told there are many balls in the air at the moment.”
The Verdict: Attacking priorities
West Ham are the fourth joint-lowest scoring team in the division, and it’s clear given the position they are in that the final third has to be made a priority position.
Antonio also hasn’t been meeting the standards he’s capable of having found the net just twice so far this season, meaning that they have to get a new target man in the building before it’s too late.
