West Ham United forward Lucas Paqueta is on “different levels” to his teammates, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
THE LOWDOWN: SIGNS ARE THERE
Having arrived from Lyon with big expectations following his club-record switch, Brazil international Paqueta has showed signs of replicating the form that was consistently on display in Ligue 1, but still has a long way to go to reach those heights.
Indeed, he has failed to score in his 10 appearances in Claret and Blue thus far.
THE LATEST: SHETH’S SUMMARY
Sky Sports man Sheth already feels as though Paqueta is a fans’ favourite at the London Stadium and has been told just how good he is.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Sheth said: “He’s already a fans’ favourite at West Ham United. The West Ham fans that I know, that I speak to, go to games regularly, and they keep telling me he’s on different levels; his touch is just fantastic.”
THE VERDICT: BIG POTENTIAL
Having conjured up 14 or more attacking returns in back-to-back Ligue 1 seasons, there is no doubting Paqueta’s ability to impact a side.
But whilst the signs are there, he has not yet had the effect that many fans may have expected after moving for a fee of around £51.3m.
Though, his lack of chance creation to this point will perhaps be David Moyes’ biggest concern over the 25-year-old, having managed to create just two chances in the Premier League despite operating in advanced positions.
For context, fellow summer recruit Gianluca Scamacca has created 10 chances in the league and has played just four more games.
Make no mistake, though, Paqueta’s rise to prominence at the London Stadium will surely come soon, with the Brazil international possessing big potential to shine, and we feel Sheth is right in his summary of the star.
