Former Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has made a hopeful West Ham United claim amid David Moyes' 'tricky' situation in east London.

The Lowdown: Hammers off to slow start...

The Hammers enjoyed a busy and eventful summer transfer window, with Moyes receiving the full backing of GSBK (Gold, Sullivan, Brady and Kretinsky).

West Ham sealed deals for Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Emerson and club-record signing Lucas Paqueta in a display of real intent.

However, their actual start to the season hasn't reflected that array of impressive business, with Moyes' side having just one league victory to their name so far, leaving them in the relegation zone at this moment in time.

The Latest: Kenny makes hopeful West Ham claim...

West Ham have also lost four out of their opening six matches this season, but Kenny has shared a hopeful message for supporters amid this 'tricky' situation.

He explained to Football Insider“It’s a tricky one because they should be doing better, they shouldn’t be in the relegation zone.

“They won’t be there for long, I am absolutely sure of that. They have spent this summer and I think they just need those new signings to properly gel together.

“The big man up front [Scamacca] hasn’t really done it yet but he will adjust to the league over time, everyone takes time.

“We know how good this team is, it has been in Europe for the past few seasons and I expect they will be there again this year.”

The Verdict: Correct call...

West Ham simply have too much quality in their squad to remain in the drop zone for long.

Their fightback against FCSB in the Europa Conference League on Thursday also demonstrated a real team spirit and determination to keep fighting until the final whistle.

While the likes of Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen changed the complexion of that game, with summer signing Gianluca Scamacca still settling, we believe that West Ham will be back in among England's leading teams very soon.
