West Ham United star Said Benrahma has been singled out by The Athletic's Roshane Thomas for his exploits in Monday night's 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

THE LOWDOWN: A TOUGH START

Having started 26 Premier League games for the Hammers last season, Benrahma's campaign to date has been a complete contrast thus far, as it has seen him drastically struggle for starts, with just four to his name in the league this term.

However, he has been a regular starter for the Irons in their European endeavours across the Europa Conference League and finally made one of those opportunities count in the 2-1 win against Anderlecht earlier this month.

Scoring the first goal in that tie gave him credit in the side once again, with an assist against Southampton in his 31-minute cameo last week solidifying his desire for minutes following his impact.

A 29-minute appearance against Liverpool, which saw him change the dynamic of the side, ensured a start in the following game against Bournemouth, and he ran the show in what made for a morale-boosting 2-0 win.

THE LATEST: ROSHANE THOMAS' VERDICT

Having witnessed the impressive performance from Benrahma in his fourth league start this season, Athletic reporter Thomas had this to say in the outlet's post-match discussion forum: "Needed to win this game so big three points for West Ham. Good performance from Benrahma. That will help his confidence."

THE VERDICT: BUILDING BLOCKS

At West Ham as a collective, we are seeing the side develop week-in, week-out, with defensive solidity seemingly the latest thing to prosper, having limited Bournemouth's attacking opportunities with relative ease.

Ironically, that was helped by progressive winger Benrahma, who stood out in both phases of Monday night's game - winning the most duels in the match with eight and completing the most dribbles in the game with five.

Combined with his stoppage-time penalty, it made for a wonderful performance from the Algerian, who rightly earned plaudits from Thomas et al.
