Transfer insider Dean Jones has been reacting to West Ham United's interest in Villarreal attacker Boulaye Dia.

The Lowdown: West Ham's interest in Dia

The Hammers were linked with a move for Dia back in the 2021 January transfer window when he was at Stade Reims, which suggests that the club have been following the player for some time.

Since then, the 25-year-old has joined Villarreal and is currently on loan with Salernitana in Italy.

Now though, it appears that the east London club could reignite their interest in the striker and launch a future move to add him to David Moyes' ranks, with recent reports claiming that the Hammers are one of a number of top-flight clubs keen on signing Dia.

The Latest: West Ham to launch move for Dia

Speaking to GiveMeSport, transfer insider Jones had this to say on the matter, admitting he wouldn't be surprised if a move materialised.

"West Ham have already got an interest in him. That wouldn’t totally surprise me if they were to become involved for him."

The Verdict: A useful signing for West Ham

After scoring seven goals and providing six assists in 35 appearances for his parent club, Dia joined Salernitana back in the previous summer transfer window.

Since then, the attacker, who has been included in Senegal's squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, has scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Italian side. This highlights just how capable he is of scoring goals in two of Europe's top five leagues.

In addition to that, the striker has the highest percentage of shots on target (62.5%) in Serie A out of players that have had at least seven attempts at goal.

With 58 senior goals under his belt at for club and country, it's safe to say that the Senegal international would be an exciting addition to West Ham's squad.

Taking into account how the Hammers have lost four out of their last five league games and only scored three goals in the process, Dia could be a very useful player for West Ham to get their hands on.
