West Ham: GSBK have ‘decision to make’ over Moyes’ future

West Ham: GSBK have ‘decision to make’ over Moyes’ future -Follow up

West Ham United will have a ‘decision to make’ regarding David Moyes’ future if there’s no improvement in results, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The Lowdown: Calls for the sack

The Irons have made a hugely disappointing start to the new Premier League season, where they currently find themselves sitting in the relegation zone after taking just four points from 21 (one win and a draw).

This form has seen David Moyes come under scrutiny, with rumours circulating that his job could be under threat as a result of being in the bottom three over the international break.

The Latest: Sheth’s backing for Moyes

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sheth insisted that Moyes will be asking for more time to prove himself, with GSBK set to have a ‘decision to make’ if the new signings don’t start gelling quickly. He said:

“Yes, results are king, but I just think Moyes will look at it and say ‘there are a lot of new players at this football club and I’m trying new formations as well’.

“There are players who have left and players who have come from a different league, such as the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca, who always need time. We’ve seen it – history has shown that they always need time to develop in the Premier League.

“I’m sure that would be David Moyes’ message to any of the doubters and to the board, if they are having any doubts. He will be saying ‘just give me time to blend these guys together’.

“If it then doesn’t work, then they may have a decision to make. But he’ll be saying ‘you’ve got to give me the opportunity to mould these players that I brought into the squad and then see the results that we can get’.”

The Verdict: Give him time

As worrying as it is for the Hammers to be in this position after seven games, the board should definitely give Moyes more time at the helm.

The Scotsman has won 68 and drawn 34 of his 162 matches since arriving at the London Stadium (Transfermarkt), and was responsible for his side’s introduction to the Europa League.

Getting a new boss in would be the easy option, but the 59-year-old knows this squad of players better than most, so if there’s anyone who can find a way to get the best out of them again, it’s Moyes.
