West Ham United insiders Claret & Hugh have dropped a fresh claim regarding the future of David Moyes as the club's manager...

The Lowdown: West Ham's poor form

The Irons currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, just one point clear of the relegation zone, and while their position will no doubt be a matter of concern, the manner of their recent performances is perhaps the most pressing issue.

With just 14 big chances created all season, the Hammers rank as the joint-worst team in the league when it comes to crafting opportunities, along with Bournemouth.

That has prompted reports of Moyes being under pressure at the London Stadium, with a club insider now sharing some insight on the 59-year-old's future.

As such, Moyes' future in the dugout has now been brought into question...

The Latest: Claret & Hugh's update on Moyes

Club insiders told Claret & Hugh that Moyes' job could be in doubt after his team's poor recent run of form, with some of the London Stadium faithful now turning on the manager.

When asked whether the 59-year-old is on thin ice, one insider replied: “Yes that has to be the case.

“Having said that we feel it's unfair that supporters have turned on him as he should have so much credit with them for the last two seasons."

The Verdict: Time to go?

While Moyes no doubt had plenty of credit in the bank with the West Ham faithful following the last two years, it should not be a surprise if supporters' patience is now wearing thin, particularly considering the heightened expectations at the start of the campaign.

After securing European qualification for the second season in a row last term, the Hammers went on a summer spending spree totalling around £160m, but they have failed to kick on with the new additions.

For instance, Gianluca Scamacca has scored only twice in the league up to this point, while Thilo Kehrer is ranked as only the joint-16th best performer in the squad according to Sofascore.

The Irons might not have expected to get anything from their away trip to league leaders Arsenal on Boxing Day, so the board should give Moyes a little longer to turn things around, but results must start improving quickly at the start of January if he is to feel secure in his job.
