West Ham: David Moyes still eyeing four more signings

West Ham: David Moyes still eyeing four more signings -Follow up

According to transfer journalist Dean Jones, West Ham United still want to make four new signings before deadline day on September 1.

The Lowdown: Reinforcements needed

David Moyes has already bought five fresh faces in the form of Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Nayef Aguerd, Gianluca Scamacca and most recently Maxwel Cornet, but the boss is showing no signs of stopping there.

There have been several departures this summer, most notably former captain Mark Noble following his retirement, alongside Issa Diop who’s now joined fellow Premier League rivals Fulham, so the Scotsman must find suitable replacements before the window closes.

The Latest: Jones’ behind-the-scenes claim

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that whilst West Ham do want to make as many as four more signings with the Irons seemingly holding much ambition.

However, he personally believes they will struggle to get them all over the line in time.

He said:

“I’ve heard they still want four players basically before the window’s out.

“I personally, based on what we’ve seen so far this window, I’m not convinced that they will get that done.”

The Verdict: Defensive priorities

The one priority position that Moyes needs to target is in defence given the current injury crisis at the London Stadium, with Kurt Zouma currently the only fit senior centre-back thanks to Aguerd, Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson all ruled out of action.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has confirmed that the Irons are in advanced talks over the signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s Thilo Kehrer, so that could be one deal that seems almost certain to get completed in the coming days.

Can you name all of these forgotten West Ham flops...who is this Allardyce signing?

However, with just over two weeks of the window remaining, four new incomings seem highly unlikely, meaning that the 59-year-old will just have to make do with whoever he’s got in the building for the rest of the season ahead.
