As per The Evening Standard, manager David Moyes will again be without defender Ryan Fredericks as some West Ham team news emerges before Southampton.

The Lowdown: Fredericks suffers groin strain...

Near the end of February, the West Ham boss lifted the lid on Fredericks' groin injury and subsequently ruled him out of his side's 1-0n victory at home to Wolves.

He joined Czech Republic international Vladimir Coufal as another right-back on the sidelines with Moyes only having the electric Ben Johnson to pick from against the travelling side.

Johnson did put in a fine display and further re-enforced why West Ham have opted to activate a two-year extension in his contract.

Sharing the latest team news, it appears West Ham's bright youngster won't be challenged for a wing-back slot again as an update emerges on Fredericks.

The Latest: Fredericks out...

As per The Evening Standard, Moyes' alternative option in that position will again be out of today's FA Cup clash with Southampton.

Indeed, as relayed, West Ham will remain without both Fredericks and Coufal today while centre-back Angelo Ogbonna is a long-term absentee.

The Verdict: Blow for Moyes?

While Fredericks hasn't exactly been in the best of form, not having him as an option certainly will come as a minor blow for Moyes.

Depending on how Johnson performs, or if he even picks up a knock, Moyes seemingly has no right-back options to turn to with youngster Harrison Ashby also injured (football.london).

Fredericks can also prove useful going forward on occasion, especially with his pace on the overlap, with podcaster and journalist Sam Delaney describing the ex-Spurs youngster as an 'extra threat'.

Moyes has also labelled his dynamism 'really important' in the past, but with him out, it appears the Hammers will be reliant solely on Johnson again.
