According to an update by ExWHUemployee, Man United were ‘very interested’ in signing promising West Ham youngster Jamal Baptiste – with the Irons managing to fend off them off and tie him down with a first professional contract coming as ‘more good news’.
Baptiste, who has shown promising signs for West Ham in their academy set up, did manage to attract real attention from United before the club managed to secure him with a deal.
Should West Ham sell Baptiste for profit in future?
Baptiste attracted Man United interest
The Hammers announced this move on Thursday, with ExWHUemployee hinting that Baptiste could have signed for the Red Devils in an alternative universe had the club not opted to tie him down.
As per the club insider’s information, who shared the ‘good news’ on Twitter, West Ham potentially faced losing the young colossus – but this official club move could now be reason for supporters to get excited.

Modelling his game off the likes of Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk and former club favourite Matthew Upson, Baptiste could become a pivotal figure in east London if his potential is anything to go by (Claret & Hugh).
Transfer Tavern take
Former academy director Terry Westley, writing for Claret & Hugh, claims that he is also in the Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop mould – going on to say that he could become a ‘monster’ player for West Ham.
Predicted to go to the top, Baptiste could certainly have a bright future, with United’s alleged interest potentially evidence of his very high ceiling.
Whether or not GSB opt to sell him in future remains to be seen, but judging by his potential, Hammers supporters may not want that to happen for some time.
In other news: West Ham have been tipped to land this ‘monster’ by a club legend, find out more here.
