Writing on Twitter, many West Ham United fans weren’t impressed with the performance of captain and club legend Mark Noble at home to Brighton and Hove Albion – blasting the ‘liability‘ during their encounter with Graham Potter’s men this afternoon.
The 33-year-old, who started in midfield alongside regulars Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice, attracted criticism for offering ‘nothing’ against Brighton – even despite his cult hero label at the London Stadium.
The Englishman has enjoyed legendary status considering he has plied his trade for the east Londoners since 2004, sporting Claret and Blue for over 15 years, but that hasn’t excused him from criticism following an underwhelming performance.
He was taken off at half time in a tactical switch by Moyes, and these Irons’ opinions debatably summed up why – find all of their verdicts down below.
West Ham fans blast Noble
“Noble has been a great servant but its time to retire”
“Noble looks lost”
“Noble has been finished for years now”
“Noble is a Championship player at best…how he plays I have no idea”
“Seriously this is a joke!! I have praised moyes so far this season but noble as a number 10 against Brighton is pathetic. Benrahma, Lanzini, Fornals even snodgrass but why noble???”
“Shouldn’t matter one bit, Moyes as got this wrong today, Noble is a liability and shouldn’t be playing ahead of 5 players on our bench, if you want to play him play him Tuesday in a tough away game, not at home to Brighton.”
“I backed Noble last week as I thought we was no worse than anyone else…certainly not a stand out poor performance, however, today shows me I was wrong! He offers nothing going forwards and nothing defensively! Love him but he’s not a premier league player anymore.”
