Many West Ham fans were pleased with the response from youngster Adempio Odubeku following their side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The game was decided by an extra-time goal from the Red Devils’ midfielder Scott McTominay, in what was a gutsy display from David Moyes’ side.
One of the game’s talking points was the introduction of Odubeko, an 18-year-old Irish centre-forward who replaced Andriy Yarmolenko in the 54th minute, before he was later replaced by Manuel Lanzini with eight minutes to play of extra-time.
Odubeko was hard on himself when speaking about the match on Wednesday evening, suggesting that his brief cameo taught him a lot and understands he needs to “step up.”
Can Mipo Odubeku break into the West Ham first-team?
Because of this, supporters admired his level-headed approach and positive attitude about improving, swamping his social media with uplifting comments regarding his future.
