Posting to Instagram in an announcement, West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku revealed the decision to go through career-saving surgery as he is now set to miss the clash with Leeds United – with many Irons speechless at this surprise team news as they erupt on social media.
Masuaku, who has been a mainstay for manager David Moyes as a left attacking full-back, will now miss the Leeds clash and many more encounters following this revelation.
Should Aaron Cresswell return to left-back?
No, far better as a sweeper
Masuaku out for Leeds
According to reliable correspondent Sam Inkersole, there is no timescale on the Congolese star’s return to the side, and Moyes now faces a last minute formation change as they gear up for their Elland Road encounter.
The 27-year-old allowed Aaron Cresswell to slot in as a left-sided third centre-back, where has been thriving, but could now have to go back to his natural left-back role – in move which could be ‘detrimental‘.
As a result of this news, many Hammers have flocked to have their say at this bemusing development.

West Ham fans erupt at Masuaku team news
Masuaku being out injured for the foreseeable future is a big loss to West Ham given how good he has been this season – against Leeds tomorrow, Moyes needs to start Johnson at LWB. Can’t help but feel moving Cresswell out of current position will be detrimental to team and player

Masuaku apparently out having knee surgery, Moyes please don’t go to a back four 😫

Bit strange this – no mention of it at all by Moyes or the usual sources and now Masuaku has deleted the tweet and Instagram Post/ story about it.

Club put up a picture of him training yesterday. Why bother training knowing this was happening.
Such a weird club. #GSBOUT

Bothers him for two years which he has hardly played for us… why not deal with it earlier then… poor player management
