West Ham United are now focusing on their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt player Filip Kostic, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: Scamacca’s arrival

The Hammers had already clinched deals for Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes and Nayef Aguerd so far this summer, with the East London club looking to build upon an impressive 2021/22 campaign which saw them excel domestically and continentally.

David Moyes has continued to succeed in the transfer market this window, with Tuesday night’s announcement of Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca having completed his £35.5m switch to the Premier League outfit on an initial five-year contract.

The Latest: Romano’s news

Before West Ham had announced the arrival of Scamacca at Rush Green, Romano shared his final update on the Italian forward. However, the journalist also added news in there regarding the Hammers’ next move in the transfer market.

Taking to Twitter, he claimed:

“West Ham will focus on Filip Kostić personal terms talks right after with the same agent.”

The Verdict: Fantastic signing

When looking at Kostic’s underlying stats, there is no wonder as to why Moyes has been so keen on bringing the Serbia international to the London Stadium this summer.

As per FBRef, when compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the 29-year-old unbelievably ranks in the top one percent for shots total, assists, expected assists and shot-creating actions.

And those who have worked with Kostic have been as fond of the player as his stats would suggest. Former Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic gushed over the versatile wing-back last season, saying: “I signed Filip at Stuttgart. He showcased his extraordinary qualities there and then at Hamburg. We remained in touch, and he acclimatised very well after coming here.”

With Moyes on the lookout for a player who can play in a number of positions across the left-hand side of the pitch, Kostic could be the perfect signing for the Hammers this summer.
