According to journalist Duncan Wright of The Sun, West Ham United boss David Moyes could now turn to a rarely-used ace for tonight's Europa League bout against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Lowdown: West Ham gear up...

After a fairy tale 2020/2021 campaign in which West Ham defied all expectation, the club gear up for their first Group H encounter as they take on Zagreb in the Europa League tonight.

Much has been made of how they will deal with the extra fixtures in an already congested calendar with the club making four senior summer signings to cope.

Alex Kral, Nikola Vlasic, Kurt Zouma and Alphonse Areola all arrived at Rush Green as GSB and co aim to ensure West Ham maintain their place at this level.

Now, bar these men, reporter Wright has shared who Moyes could now turn to this evening.

The Latest: West Ham could turn to rarely-used ace tonight...

As per the journalist, Moyes could now turn to club legend Mark Noble in an effort to combat the Croatians - despite the fact he has played just two minutes so far this season.

The rarely-used club legend has cut a bit-part figure so far over 2021/2022 but West Ham's boss may throw him into the deep end given he is hesitant about overusing the likes of Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice.

Moyes will apparently want to keep one of the duo fresh for Manchester United this weekend, opening the door for Noble to make his first start this season.

The Verdict: Good call?

Noble's experience and leadership could be a major asset tonight given the momentous occasion of West Ham's return to Europe.

Beyond that, Stuart Pearce has also raved over the 34-year-old in terms of quality, branding him 'outstanding' on talkSPORT's breakfast show back in April (via West Ham Zone).

His inclusion, whilst providing a rest for key first team players, could also add steel to West Ham both mentally and in footballing terms.
