West Ham United are reportedly one of the clubs interested in securing a deal for Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi.
The Lowdown: West Ham’s recent transfer business
The summer transfer window saw the Hammers sign a host of new players from clubs across Europe for significant sums of money.
The east London club splashed the cash to sign the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd, among others, to strengthen David Moyes’ squad.
Despite being nearly two months away from the start of the January transfer window, it appears that West Ham already have one potential recruit on their radar.
The Latest: Big interest in Malinovskyi
According to a recent report from Calciomercato, the Irons are one of the clubs who are looking to sign Malinovskyi.
The report adds that fellow Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing the Ukrainian, along with Ligue 1 giants Marseille.
The Verdict: Ideal target for West Ham
Across 351 club appearances, the 29-year-old has 74 goals and 67 assists to his name, highlighting his attacking prowess.
Despite being hailed as an “extraordinary” player by his manager Gian Piero Gasperini, though, Malinovskyi has only started four of his 12 Serie A appearances this season. This could make a move to play in the Premier League for a club like West Ham a rather tempting prospect for the Ukrainian if he believes he would get more regular playing time.
Would you take Ruslan Malinovskyi at West Ham?
Across those 12 league appearances this term, the midfielder has racked up the second-highest number of passes into the final third of the pitch (30) at Atalanta, along with having the second-highest rate of shots at goal per 90 minutes (2.79).
Bearing in mind how no fewer than 10 clubs in the Premier League have made more passes into the final third of the pitch than West Ham (404) in the current campaign, this showcases how Malinovskyi could be just what Moyes needs in his Hammers squad.
