West Ham: Tomas Soucek may leave after bust-up with Moyes

West Ham: Tomas Soucek may leave after bust-up with Moyes -Follow up

According to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown, Tomas Soucek might leave West Ham United this summer after an apparent behind-the-scenes bust-up with David Moyes.

The Lowdown: Big fallout

The Czech midfielder still has two years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium, but his future could now be in doubt after The Sun claimed that he had failed to reach an agreement over a new deal.

The same report suggested that the 27-year-old could duly be sold this summer, with the £40.5m-valued colossus attracting plenty of interest from the likes of Premier League clubs Everton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

It’s believed that discussions regarding fresh terms ended up being put on hold after Soucek was involved in some behind-the-scenes tension with Moyes due to a falling out over the player wanting a pay rise.

The Latest: Brown expecting Soucek exit

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Brown wasn’t able to confirm or deny the rumours, but he still expects Soucek to leave West Ham in the coming weeks regardless.

He said of the Irons midfielder: “There was talk a couple of weeks ago that he’d fallen out with the manager.

“That’s never been confirmed by anyone at West Ham, but it does seem like Soucek might leave this window.”

The Verdict: Point of no return?

Soucek has been a fantastic servant for West Ham, clocking up 101 appearances since joining from Slavia Prague two years ago.

However, if there is any truth to the stories which are circulating, the tension between player and manager may be difficult to repair, and the 27-year-old could be at the point of no return under Moyes.

Do you think Soucek will leave West Ham this summer?

Every club will be in the process of bolstering their ranks ahead of the new season, but the Hammers’ recent acquisition of Flynn Downes, who also plays in central midfield, may raise some questions surrounding Soucek’s future.

Negotiations will continue to be hard if the Czech ace is refusing to extend his stay in east London without a wage increase, which is why it might be best for the Irons to move him on and use his transfer fee to put towards further additions in the coming weeks.
