West Ham United have reportedly set their price tag for full-back Vladimir Coufal amid recent transfer exit links. 

The Lowdown: Coufal linked with West Ham exit

The Hammers signed Coufal back in October 2020 from Slavia Prague in a deal worth a reported fee of £5.4m.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Coufal had been in talks over a potential transfer move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Now though, it appears that some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the defender's current situation at the east London club, and what the future could hold for him.

According to a recent report from Football Insider, the Hammers are willing to let Coufal leave the club during the upcoming January transfer window if a bid of £6m comes their way for him.

The report also adds that West Ham are not currently in talks with Leverkusen over a potential transfer deal involving the defender.

The Verdict: A questionable move for West Ham

Having made 17 appearances for David Moyes' side this season across all competitions, it can be said that the 30-year-old, who has been called "outstanding" in the past by journalist Paul Brown, is a useful squad option for the manager.

Therefore, we feel that it could be a risk for the club to cash in on him in January, and then potentially end up needing him throughout the remainder of the season.

Coufal's current contract at the London Stadium is set to expire in the summer, although the club have the option to extend it for another two years.

In our view, we feel that it could be the best option to extend the £35k-per-week defender's deal, and then sell him in the summer rather than in January, especially if he thinks a move away from the club would be the best option for him and his career.
