Gabriel Agbonhlahor believes Adam Armstrong would be the “perfect signing” for West Ham United this summer.
Hammers urged to make Armstrong move
The Irons have been linked with a move for Blackburn striker Armstrong (The Sun), who has been in fantastic form so far this campaign scoring 18 goals in 29 matches for the Lancashire outfit (Transfermarkt).
Talking to Football Insider, Agbonlahor has urged the Hammers to target the 24-year-old. He said:
“You look at Ollie Watkins, you look at Ivan Toney, I’m sure if Brentford don’t go up, he’ll get a move to the Premier League.
“A lot of these Championship strikers are making the grade when they come up to the Premier League and they are showing they can do it.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he was the sort of player who wouldn’t moan about being the second choice until he gets settled in.
“I’m sure that would be a perfect signing that David Moyes would look at.”
The sale of Sebastien Haller during the January transfer window has left David Moyes incredibly short upfront – he now only has Michail Antonio as an option at centre-forward, and the former Nottingham Forest striker is not averse to a spell on the sidelines due to injury.
Would you like to sign Adam Armstrong?
Armstrong scored 16 times in the second tier last term and netted 20 in a season on loan at Coventry earlier on in his career – at a lower level, at least, he has proven himself to be a solid goalscorer.
The likes of Ollie Watkins and Patrick Bamford have shown that the step up to the top flight is nothing to be scared of – Armstrong could perhaps be the next forward to take the leap.
In other news, the price tag for this West Ham star has been set.
