# West Ham Rooney move reportedly unlikely, striker remains Hammers priority

**One West Ham fan here in the Transfer Tavern may want to take his hurriedly printed ‘Rooney 10’ West Ham shirt back and ask for a refund with reports from [Football.London](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/exclusive-west-ham-confirm-stance-12775654) claiming that any Hammers move for Wayne Rooney this summer is unlikely.**

[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10809544/west-ham-interested-in-signing-wayne-rooney-this-summer-sky-sources) claimed earlier today that the England skipper is a major target for the club ahead of the looming off-season should the Red Devils opt to offload him.

Reports from the [Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/antoine-griezmanns-transfer-manchester-united-wayne-rooney-a7559996.html) have already hinted that Rooney may well be moved on in a few months’ time with Man United keen to free up funds for a marquee purchase, but despite the likelihood of the 31-year-old being available, [London.Football](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/exclusive-west-ham-confirm-stance-12775654) state that a source has informed them it’s improbable he will be wearing the claret and blue jersey anytime soon.

However, it is understood that signing a striker this summer remains a top priority for the Irons, whose current top scorer this season is versatile wide-man Michail Antonio.

***Is this the summer Wayne Rooney should leave Manchester United?***
