# West Ham: Moise Kean approach made

**[West Ham United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/) have approached Juventus forward Moise Kean, according to Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/da-arthur-a-rabiot-fino-a-kean-e-rabiot-il-punto-sulle-possibili-uscite-della-juventus-1701430).**

### The lowdown

[The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/armando-broja-west-ham-transfer-chelsea-fc-b1007401.html) have reported that David Moyes is determined to sign a striker this summer to provide cover and competition for Michail Antonio.

It was only last summer that Juventus agreed a [deal to re-sign](https://www.espn.com/soccer/soccer-transfers/story/4465427/juventus-re-sign-moise-kean-after-cristiano-ronaldo-leaves-for-man-united) Kean from Everton after he went the other way for [£29m](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/aug/04/everton-sign-moise-kean-juventus) in 2019. He was [regarded as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo](https://www.goal.com/en/news/ronaldos-replacement-everton-flop-kean-returns-to-juventus/1qvare6g5a21199w63p3ltdl3), who left for Manchester United.

Now rated at [£21.6m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdaten/spieler/364135) by Transfermarkt, the Italian made [42 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/364135/verein/506) for the Bianconeri in all competitions last season, but was limited to [12](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdaten/spieler/364135/plus/0?saison=2021) Serie A starts.

### The latest

The report from [Calciomercato](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/da-arthur-a-rabiot-fino-a-kean-e-rabiot-il-punto-sulle-possibili-uscite-della-juventus-1701430) states that Kean is ‘looking for a way out’ of the Allianz Stadium this summer.

He has been contacted by two members of the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/)‘s London contingent in West Ham and Fulham.

### The verdict

West Ham clearly need another centre-forward option. Michail Antonio may have staved off injury trouble last season, but it’s hard to be confident about his availability on the basis of his [familiar struggles](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/verletzungen/spieler/104124).

The 32-year-old’s tally of [13 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124/plus/0?saison=2021) last term was solid but [he also endured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124/plus/0?saison=2021) two Premier League scoring droughts lasting nine and 14 games respectively.

Is Kean the answer?

\[freshpress-poll id=”402147″\]

While he may have netted [only six goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdaten/spieler/364135/plus/0?saison=2021) last season, it’s important to stress that his game-time was limited. He showed how good he could be during a loan spell at Paris Saint-Germain in 2020/21, when he was just [three shy of the 20-goal mark](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moise-kean/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/364135/verein/583).

[Similar in profile](https://fbref.com/en/players/3d50bcdb/Moise-Kean) to Jamie Vardy, Tammy Abraham and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, the 21-year-old would appear to be a gamble if West Ham were to sign him. He was considered a ‘[flop](https://www.goal.com/en/news/ronaldos-replacement-everton-flop-kean-returns-to-juventus/1qvare6g5a21199w63p3ltdl3)‘ at Everton, but it seems that Moyes still believes he can cut it at the top level.
