A controversial move to the London Stadium still hasn’t paid off amid pre-season talks of European football. Owners David Sullivan and David Gold have spent large sums of money on players with varied levels of success in recent years, but David Moyes’ side have suffered from a troubled season, and supporters should expect a busy transfer window to appease the restless fan base.

Keep up to speed with all of the wheelings-and-dealings involving your beloved Irons via the Transfer Tavern.

West Ham United Transfer Records

West Ham’s transfer record currently stands at the £36m the board gave Eintracht Frankfurt for Sebastien Haller. Pablo Fornals was the first to arrive last year, before Haller became the club’s most expensive player in the same window, breaking the fee set by club talisman Felipe Anderson back in 2018.

It is fair to say the Frenchman has struggled to find some consistency all season, scoring just seven goals in the Premier League so far.

Issa Diop has impressed on his return to the starting XI and has been linked with a move to a number of top English clubs in the upcoming transfer window. Former winger Andre Ayew takes up the last place in the top five.

Famous West Ham United Transfers

Obviously we could throwback to the golden days of Stuart Pearce, Trevor Sinclair, John Hartson, and club legend Paolo Di Canio plying their trade at Upton Park. Who could ever forget that famous goal against Wimbledon?

Instead of dreaming about the past, let’s focus on the last decade or so. The Hammers can be credited with the discovery of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez, who moved to Europe for the first time for £13m.

In recent years, fans have been treated to the highlight reels of Marko Arnautovic and Dimitri Payet. Even so, the protracted departures of the attacking duo is fresh in the memory, and left many with a bitter taste.

No doubt some will shudder at the memories of infamous Gold and Sullivan flops like Simone Zaza and Andy Carroll.

Biggest West Ham United Rumours

Admittedly, everything entirely depends on which division West Ham find themselves in next season. It is likely David Moyes will have his hands full in the summer as the boss looks to bolster his squad to guarantee survival at all costs. Questions remain over Declan Rice’s future, as the England international is linked with derby rivals Chelsea, although Willian will be available for free in the summer and could move in the opposite direction.

Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser would make a shrewd investment and his contract is set to expire very shortly. Moyes has indicated keeping Tomas Soucek in London is an immediate priority and wants to sign the Slavia Prague loanee on a permanent basis. On the other hand, Jack Wilshere has barely featured for the club this campaign, and it remains unclear if the midfielder will still be in Stratford before football kicks off again.

However, since joining in January for £19m, emergency signing Jarrod Bowen has been a complete revelation, and supporters will be anxious for the young ace to ink a new long-term contract to ward off any potential buyers.
