According to [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-b1002744.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1653641796), after West Ham failed to seal a place in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/)‘s top six last season, it is believed that Moyes has a striker, central midfielder and left-back top of his priorities.

They’ve also been tipped to make Paris-Saint Germain loanee Alphonse Areola’s move a [permanent one](https://twitter.com/DiMarzio/status/1527393220245716992) as veteran mainstay keeper Lukasz Fabianski enters the twilight phase of his career.

As well as this, Moyes has [stepped up talks](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-b1002744.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1653641796) for Morocco international defender Nayef Aguerd, who has been described as a ‘key’ Moyes target.

### The Latest: Romano shares Aguerd boost…

As the Hammers attempt a deal for Rennes’ star centre-half, big name reporter Romano has now shared a very promising update as Aguerd eyes a move to Rush Green.

He [explained:](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1531836935597080576)

*“West Ham are progressing in negotiations with Rennes to sign Nayef Aguerd as new centre-back. Talks ongoing with positive feelings, Aguerd wants the move – up to the clubs.*

*“West Ham are optimistic but still waiting to complete the agreement.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done…

Described as one of[Ligue 1’s best defensive stars](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2022/feature-nayef-aguerd-rennes-rough-diamond-is-now-one-of-ligue-1s-best-defenders/) over 2021/2022, signing Aguerd for a mooted fee of [£13 million](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-transfer-news-nayef-aguerd-b1003322.html) could be one of the bargains of this window.

Still just 26-years-old, he has also been called an [‘excellent player’](https://twitter.com/SaidAmdaa/status/1470376899666845698) by members of the French media ([Said Amdaa](https://twitter.com/SaidAmdaa/status/1470376899666845698)), and his numbers tell the whole story.

The colossal powerhouse made more clearances per 90 than anyone in the Rennes squad, marking himself out as a reliable and assured presence ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/313/Show/France-Rennes)).

It’s clear by his reputation and performances last year he could be a real potential asset for Moyes at West Ham.
