David Moyes recently had his press conference after this news was reported, and he was able to provide somewhat of an answer and a positive update on the transfer.
What did Moyes say about Said Benrahma’s possible transfer to West Ham?
When asked if the winger had failed his medical, Moyes said: “No that’s not correct, he hasn’t failed his medical and we are still hopeful that something can be done by later today but I just can’t guarantee that at this moment in time. Part of his medical is still ongoing.
“Talking about medicals is private, it is something that has to be done so I am not going to discuss that. All I will say is that we still hope that we can get it done today. These things happen in football but we will soon find out.”
How positive is this news on Said Benrahma?
The winger had a terrific campaign last season for Brentford as he scored 17 goals and also supplied nine assists, per WhoScored. He often proved a menace for opposition defences as he averaged 3.8 shots, 2.1 key passes and three successful dribbles per game.
Would Said Benrahma be a good signing for West Ham United?
West Ham’s wide options have been weakened by the loan exit of Felipe Anderson to FC Porto and the permanent sale of academy prospect Grady Diangana to West Brom The latter transfer left many Irons fans and some players infuriated. As such, Benrahma would be an ideal addition to bring some quality to the wide attacking positions.
With all this taken into account, Moyes’ latest comments are a huge positive and the deal could still be completed, thus bringing a welcome end to a rollercoaster transfer saga.
