Former Rangers star Michael Ball has exclusively told Transfer Tavern that he believes that West Ham are definitely interested in signing Connor Goldson from the Scottish club next summer.

The club have been linked with a swoop to bring the central defender into the club, as his contract runs down.

Football Insider has reported that the Hammers are keeping a close eye on his situation at Ibrox, as he has yet to commit his future to the club.

Indeed, Goldson’s contract is set to expire in 2022 and that opens the door to him moving on a free transfer next summer.

He would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of Scotland in January, too, meaning the Irons may be able to strike an agreement in the January transfer window.

Goldson has emerged as a key player since moving to Ibrox from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018, making a total of 175 appearances for the Scottish giants.

He has routinely been linked with the Irons and Ball believes that Hammers boss David Moyes definitely holds some degree of interest in signing the 28-year-old.

He told TT: “It’s a strange one. It is a transfer that doesn’t seem to be going away. David Moyes is very, very close to Rangers football club. He’ll know a lot about that player so there’s obviously interest there.”
