West Ham United: Fans unconvinced by Jannik Vestergaard loan rumours - West Ham Transfer Rumours

A number of West Ham fans have reacted unenthusiastically to reports that the club could be seeking a loan move for Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard.

Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope tweeted (via @CraigHope_DM) that the Irons are exploring a loan move for the towering 1.99m-tall centre-back, who has been capped 17 times by Denmark.

The 28-year-old has played only 45 minutes as a substitute so far this season and has been pilloried by numerous Saints fans over some unconvincing performances. Indeed, he was withdrawn at half-time in the notorious 0-9 defeat to Leicester last season, when Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team trailed 0-5 at the interval (as per BBC).

Nonetheless, transfer activity has been conspicuous by its absence at London Stadium in this window, with the permanent addition of Tomas Soucek the only signing so far. West Ham’s pursuit of James Tarkowski as a defensive reinforcement ended in recent days after Burnley refused three bids for the England international.

These Irons fans on Twitter do not think that Vestergaard is the answer at centre-back, with one supporter claiming that they would prefer to see youngster Aji Alese given a chance:
