The summer transfer window has finally shut, and West Ham left it late to sign winger Said Benrahma. However, reports are suggesting they are already planning their January transfer window as they are still keen on Joshua king.
The Hammers had a £13 million bid rejected for the AFC Bournemouth forward over the last couple of weeks, so they were definitely keen. However, it seems like this initial rejection has not stopped them believing they can still acquire him in the near future.
The latest transfer update on King
According to Football Insider, the Irons are confident that they can sign King in January due to believing they have already laid the foundations of the deal.
This is due to the fact that his contract expires next summer, so his asking price will have significantly tumbled. The Irons believe it will likely be below £10m in January as he will have entered the final six months of his contract.
Would he be a good signing for the Hammers?
King has scored 50 goals in his 171 appearances for the Cherries , per Transfermarkt, including 48 in the Premier League. This highlights that he would seemingly be a good option to bolster the attack for West Ham, who have enjoyed a fantastic run of form in their last couple of league matches, outscoring Wolves and Leicester by a combined score of 7-0.
He is highly rated by his former manager Eddie Howe, who heaped praise on him in the past following a victory against Newcastle. Howe said: ‘Josh is outstanding physically, technically and mentally – he has the complete package, a little bit of everything’.
He has shown he is prolific in the division, and he is still only 28. He has the experience domestically and also on the international stage where he has scored 17 goals for Norway.
