West Ham have now made an out-of-window 'proposal' to sign Sao Paulo star Luizao, according to recent reports.

The Lowdown: Moyes injury crisis?

The Hammers and manager David Moyes have endured somewhat of an injury crisis in recent weeks with defenders Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd all having been sidelined for at least a small period.

Now, West Ham have been handed another big blow, with club-record signing and Brazil international Lucas Paqueta set to be absent for a small period after damaging his collarbone.

The former Lyon star, however, won't miss the World Cup despite reports - with Paqueta taking to Instagram and explaining he'll return in two weeks.

However, as Moyes attempts to transform West Ham's fortunes and propel them back near the European qualification spots, these repetitive fitness issues will come as a real irritation.

The Latest: West Ham make out of window Luizao offer...

Amid these problems at West Ham, it appears head of recruitment Rob Newman and Moyes could see the transfer market as their best possible solution.

According to UOL, the Irons have made a 'very good proposal' out of the transfer window to sign Sao Paulo defender Luizao.

The 20-year-old is out of contract in January 2023 and Sao Paulo have not yet managed to agree terms on a fresh deal, potentially handing West Ham a chance to sign him on a free mid-way through this season.

The Verdict: Wise move?

Another body in defence, and a very promising one at that, could be the antidote to West Ham's lack of depth recently.

South American media have raved over the Brazilian starlet, even calling him 'absurd' in the Sao Paulo defence, with Luizao averaging his side's joint-second highest rate of clearances per 90 in Brasileirão Serie A (WhoScored).

West Ham scouts have clearly seen a real colossus in the making and signing him for free would come as a very low-risk move financially.
