While West Ham have been firmly in the chase, reports suggest manager David Moyes faces stiff competition as Lingard has many offers on the table (ESPN).

As well as clubs in England, suitors from the USA, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi have been weighing the former Man United attacker, but it is now claimed that Nottingham Forest have leapt into major contention.

Amid all of this interest, Lingard is expected to finally make his decision by the weekend.

The Latest: West Ham still in there…

Despite Forest’s advances, reporter Steinberg has shared a possible glimmer of hope for Hammers supporters.

Indeed, according to his sources, some club insiders at Forest still believe that Lingard will end up signing for West Ham – regardless of their advances.

He explained (via Twitter):

“Nothing on this is finalised yet. Forest have offered Lingard a lot – and yet some there still think he ends up at West Ham…”

The Verdict: Glimmer of hope?

It’s no secret Moyes has wanted to bring Lingard back to east London since the player’s fine spell on loan over the second half of 2020/2021.

His nine goals and four assists over 16 Premier League appearances has seemingly remained at the forefront of West Ham’s thinking with pundits like Paddy Kenny recently branding Lingard ‘unbelievable‘ for his exploits.

The Englishman’s quality is certainly there when given the opportunity, and while he could be a brilliant signing for free, Moyes also can’t afford to haggle for too long given there is just over a month of the window remaining.
