West Ham United have agreed a fee at the fourth time of asking for Lille midfield sensation Amadou Onana, report Sky Sports.

The Lowdown: Hammers pursue deal...

The Hammers and manager David Moyes have been chasing a deal for the 20-year-old for quite some time with reports of offers being lodged last month.

Onana, who has already earned a call-up to the Belgium national team, comes as quite a hot prospect and is believed to be attracting a lot of interest.

Moyes is apparently eager to add the midfield powerhouse to his ranks after sealing deals for Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Alphonse Areola and Gianluca Scamacca already this summer.

The Latest: Sky share big Onana update...

As per Sky Sports, a big update has come to light on the Hammers' attempts to sign Onana.

They revealed on a live TV broadcast on Wednesday, via Football Daily, that West Ham have agreed a fee to sign the starlet after a 'fourth attempt' of around €40 million (£33m) including add-ons.

"West Ham United have now agreed a fee with Lille for the midfielder Amadou Onana, we've been reporting on this one all week, we understand the fee is in the region of 40 million (euros), including add ons.

"They've now agreed a fee so that one's moving ever closer."

The Verdict: Big news?

Standing at a colossal 6 foot 4 and coming with lots of potential, it is clear just how highly West Ham rate Onana given they're willing to shell out roughly £33m to secure a deal.

While their offer has been accepted, it remains to be seen whether they can agree personal terms with some sources suggesting the deal is far from done.

That being said, shaking hands on a fee is certainly one big leap forward.
