West Ham United may be upping their plans to sign a right-wing-back as news emerges on Atalanta defender Joakim Meahle.

The Lowdown: West Ham keep pushing...

After sealing both Nayef Aguerd and Alphonse Areola, it appears Irons head coach David Moyes is ready to make more moves as he prepares for an interesting 2022/2023 Premier League campaign.

According to reports, soon-to-be free agent Jesse Lingard, whose Man United contract expires tomorrow, is being targeted - as is Chelsea striker Armando Broja.

Now, as per reports in Italy, it appears Moyes could be about to step up his chase for a new defender after Aguerd.

The Latest: Hammers 'lunge' expected...

According to Tutto Atalanta, the east Londoners have 'their sights set' on Meahle of Serie A.

They go on to state that a 'lunge', presumably meaning bid, is 'expected' imminently and in the 'next few days'.

Atalanta allegedly value their man at around €18 million (£13m).

The Verdict: Make the move?

The Denmark international, who has been called a 'new superstar' for his country after his brilliant Euro 2020 campaign, would arrive in east London with a glowing and growing reputation.

Meahle has also been called a 'machine' by Leicester City number one and national teammate Kasper Schmeichel, making his £13m price tag a fairly reasonable price to pay for a player so seemingly gifted.

He also has many years at the top level ahead of him being just 25-years-old and Schmeichel's further endorsement of Meahle being a hard-worker could be even more endearing to Moyes.
