West Ham: Alex Crook says Broja bid was ‘ignored’

West Ham: Alex Crook says Broja bid was 'ignored' - Follow up

TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has made an interesting West Ham United claim Chelsea forward Armando Broja as he sheds light on an ‘ignored’ bid.

The Lowdown: Hammers make bid…

It is reliably believed that the Premier League side made a bid to sign Broja last month and it wasn’t entirely ruled out at point that West Ham would sign both Gianluca Scamacca and the Albanian.

Where will West Ham finish at the end of 2022/2023?

While the former was eventually confirmed, coming in as West Ham’s fourth major summer signing after Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes and Alphonse Areola, the east Londoners made no such headway in negotiations for Broja.

As West Ham now focus their efforts on the likes of Amadou Onana (Lille) and Filip Kostic (Eintracht Frankfurt), talkSPORT journalist Crook has shed some light on the Broja links.

The Latest: West Ham ‘would love’ to sign Broja…

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the reporter has made an interesting claim involving the colossal 6 foot 3 striker.

He says that Chelsea ‘ignored’ West Ham’s bid, rather than reject it outright, and believes manager David Moyes would still ‘love’ to sign Broja if he become available.

Crook explained:

“I don’t think the bid was ever formally rejected, Chelsea just ignored it, but I still think West Ham would love to sign him if he became available, although at the moment I don’t think that’s likely.”

The Verdict: One for future windows?

Broja may well be one for future windows given his sky high potential at just 20-years-old.

Arguably proven in top flight football already following some impressive performances on loan at Southampton, West Ham would be signing a player with real promise, though much could depend on his outings next campaign.

If Broja shines out on loan from Chelsea again, perhaps he could be a marquee Irons addition in 2023, when Michail Antonio may need a long-term replacement.
