West Ham United are set for further Hans Vanaken talks after upping their bid with The Guardian sharing a transfer update out of Rush Green.

The Lowdown: Hammers eye move...

Hammers boss David Moyes is looking to upgrade his squad further after the signings of Nayef Aguerd, Flynn Downes, Alphonse Areola, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and Thilo Kehrer.

It is believed that West Ham are chasing a new left-back addition as well as another midfield transfer with Vanaken targeted.

The east Londoners had an opening bid of £8 million rejected by Club Brugge for their star man but Moyes' side certainly aren't giving up.

The Latest: West Ham chase Vanaken deal...

Indeed, according to reports, the Irons are set for further negotiations over the 29-year-old.

The Guardian state that West Ham have 'upped their bid' to sign Vanaken and the player has 'made it clear' he wishes to make a move to the Premier League.

West Ham talks, as a result, are 'set to continue in the coming days'.

The Verdict: Do it...

If the Irons can agree a reasonable price for Belgium's international ace, Moyes could end up landing a shrewd signing.

As per WhoScored, only Brugge keeper Simon Mignolet played more league minutes than Vanaken over 2021/2022 - proving just how crucial he has been for them in the Jupiler Pro League.

On top of his 11 goals and nine assists last campaign, he finished the season as their third-best performing player by average match rating with former teammate Onur Kaya having raved over his technique for such a 'big player'.

It's hardly surprising Vanaken has caught West Ham's eye, but with September 1 nearing, time could be running out to seal a move.
