Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Premier League striker Darren Bent has tipped West Ham to sign summer target James Tarkowski – coming after fellow pundit Noel Whelan claimed his exit from Burnley could be ‘imminent‘.
Tarkowski, who has been linked with a move away from The Clarets, with an extension on his current deal still yet to be signed, could look to depart Lancashire judging by latest reports.
Should West Ham sign Tarkowski?
100%, get the deal done
No, we need a forward
Tarkowski on the move?
Indeed, speaking candidly to the Telegraph, Tarkowski revealed that he will be rejecting new contract offers at Turf Moor as he wishes to take his future into his own hands.
Burnley reportedly snubbed bids over the summer, from both the Hammers and Leicester City, with Tarkowski now keen to move on.
Bent, speaking to Football Insider, predicts West Ham to finally land their man next summer – going on to say he ‘fully expects’ a deal to happen.
“Yes, I fully expect them to,” explained the talkSPORT pundit.
“Tarkowski wants a fresh challenge and wants to play at the next level and you can’t crucify him for that, you commend him.
“Hendrick left on a free last year and you can’t let your best players leave on a free.”
Transfer Tavern take
Whelan, in another interview with the outlet, hinted that an exit from Burnley could be ‘imminent‘ – something that may benefit West Ham as manager David Moyes looks to reinforce his back line as well as land a new forward.
Time will tell whether the £25.2 million-valued Tarkowski does opt for the Hammers, but his presence would only make the east London club a more stable force to be reckoned with.
As explained by Paul Robinson, he would certainly be a ‘fantastic signing‘ by GSB.
