Writing on Twitter, reliable club insider ExWHUemployee has made a West Ham United transfer claim involving Liverpool forward Divock Origi.

The Lowdown: West Ham in striker chase...

The Irons have been chasing a new striker since the very start of this summer transfer window and even before.

West Ham's attempts to land a star forward were well documented in January as well and manager David Moyes even confirmed they had lodged bids for the likes of Youssef En-Nesyri.

As the August 31 transfer window deadline looms, it truly is crunch time for West Ham to start making serious moves for new attacking additions.

The Latest: ExWHUemployee drops Origi claim...

Taking to Twitter, ExWHUemployee has now shared the latest on West Ham's forward chase, and it involves Belgium international Origi.

The club insider has now backed claims that GSB hold an interest in signing the Reds striker amid question marks surrounding his Anfield future.

However, while the links to Origi are concrete, Ex doesn't expect a move to be close until near the end of the window.

"He is someone I’ve reported interest on before," the insider explained (via social media).

"But I don’t think a move is close at this point but could be towards end of window.

The Verdict: Avoid...

Origi has enjoyed some fine moments in a Liverpool shirt, most notably during their Champions League-winning run back in 2018/2019, but his goalscoring record doesn't exactly mark him out as a star target.

Amassing a 59-goal total throughout his whole career, the 26-year-old has bagged just 19 in 100 Premier League appearances (Transfermarkt).

As a long term option to partner or even replace Michail Antonio at some point, it is arguable that West Ham could do far better.
