According to a report by Eurosport, via West Ham Central, the Irons’ GSB ownership are very likely to make a move for Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill this summer – a source of excitement to many supporters as this news emerged.
Brownhill has been a mainstay for Sean Dyche’s midfield this season and a real enforcer, making 2.4 interceptions per game on average in the Premier League – even more than West Ham star Declan Rice has managed over 2020/21 (WhoScored).
West Ham legend Mark Noble is set to hang up his boots at the end of the 2021/22 campaign after signing a one-year extension back in March, and Brownhill’s impressive numbers point towards him being a worthy heir to the 33-year-old.
Eurosport claimed that West Ham are very likely to swoop for the Clarets midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Flocking to this update, many Irons supporters were buzzing with this link – with one even calling Brownhill a ‘big player’. Here is a flavour of the reaction from the Hammers faithful on Twitter:
West Ham fans buzzing over Brownhill links
“On my knees”
“I rate him and McNeil very highly.”
“100% take that”
“If you don’t rate Brownhill you don’t know ball”
“Would like this a lot”
