West Ham United: Fans react following transfer news on Wesley Fofana
It hasn’t been the greatest transfer window for West Ham United as the only signing they have made is Tomas Soucek, whose loan move was made permanent.
This, combined with the fact that they have lost their first two games of the Premier League season make it look like it is going to be a very tough campaign for the Hammers this season.
However there did seem to be a positive, as the club were reportedly ready to battle Leicester City for defender Wesley Fofana. The 19 year-old boasted some great stats last campaign in the 13 appearances he made in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne, as he managed 3.7 clearances, 1.8 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per game, via WhoScored.
Many of the Iron fan base are unhappy though, as they reacted to the offer they reportedly made for the player. According to Sky Sports, and tweeted out by West Ham Gossip, the Irons are giving Saint-Etienne a take-it-or-leave-it offer for Wesley Fofana. This is due to the fact that they do not want to get into a bidding war for the 19-year-old centre back. Their offer is £23m plus £10m in add ons and they want to pay in six annual instalments.
Many Hammers fans feel that this offer is excessive for a player who managed just 13 appearances in the French top flight last term, whilst others are laughing at the fact the club want to pay over such a lengthy period of time.
Many are slamming the update on Twitter, with one labelling the bid “embarrassing.”
